It can feel like the only options for what to do with your body hair involve removing it Lingerie & Underwear. Whether it’s shaving or waxing, it’s pretty common to feel like you have to try to erase any trace of hair from your body. That’s why Emma Watson’s body hair routine is *totally* refreshing. (BTW, here are four waxing myths to stop believing.)
The feminist AF actress and activist (she advocates for everything from campus sexual assault reform to gender equality) recently shared her very natural, mostly organic beauty routine with Into the Gloss. When it came to body hair, here’s what she had to say: “It’s funny—I was just talking to my friend before this about how in the Instagram era it’s so easy to edit your life so that it looks perfect Hunting & Fishing. But I bleach my top lip and tweeze my eyebrows and you’d never get to see that, even though it’s a part of my routine. There’s still so much shame around the things you do to get ready while you’ve got a towel wrapped around your head Handbags & Wallets. It’s important to me not to edit that out. I’ve been bleaching my top lip since I was 9 Knickers. I don’t do it very often, but I do it!”
We applaud her for being so open about what exactly goes into being camera-ready. It’s easy to forget that the celebs you see on the red carpet went through hours of prep to look the way they do, so hearing that a major star like Emma Watson has such relatable habits is a breath of fresh air. (For more on this topic, check out the bizarre history of hair removal.)
Another surprisingly awesome element of her routine? “I use Fur Oil,” she says. “I’ll use that anywhere from the ends of my hair to my eyebrows to my pubic hair. It’s an amazing all-purpose product.” In case you’re not familiar (we weren’t!), Fur Oil is a product that conditions your pubic hair, keeping it soft and helping to prevent ingrowns Novelty, which we can all agree are the worst. More significant than the product recommendation itself, Watson is acknowledging the fact that she has pubic hair through this statement (revolutionary, we know). Pubic hair is something that’s not really talked about publicly very often unless it’s in the context of how to get rid of it ASAP, and we’re glad to see that changing. The truth is, body hair removal is a completely personal choice, and when celebs like Watson speak up and share how they handle it, it normalizes options that go against what popular beauty standards dictate. That’s a message we can definitely get behind.
